French translation of UAE short stories released in Paris

PARIS, JULY 8, 2001 (WAM)--The Paris-based Arab World Institute today released a French version of a collection of short stories by UAE writers. Five thousand copies of the collection was distributed during the Sixth European Book Fair held in Paris from June 7 to 16. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan, Minister of Information and Culture, said at the time that the UAE was delighted to be chosen as a guest of honour in the Book Fair. A number of Parisian intellectuals expressed their admiration at the level of development reached by the UAE short story writing. Writers whose stories appeared in the collection included Mohammed al Murr, Salma Mattar Saif, Nasir Jabran, Abdullah Saqr Ahmed, Saud al Omairi, Abdul Hamid Ahmed, Sheikha Al Nakhi, Harib al Dhaheri, Nasir al Dhaheri, Fatima Mohammed, and Ali Abdul Aziz al Sharhan.
