Malaysia's King confers Grand Commander Order on Sheikh Mohammed

WAM Kuala Lumpur, 17 June 2011 (WAM) -- HM King Al Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin of Malaysia received today His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, at the Royal Palace Istana Negara, as part of his one-day official visit to Malaysia.

As he welcomed his royal guest, the King of Malaysia hoped Sheikh Mohammed's visit would contribute in further strengthening bonds of cooperation and friendship between the two countries and taking them to new promising horizons.

Sheikh Mohammed said : ''The UAE and Malaysia maintain close ties that are witnessing significant, steady growth and we are keen to expand avenues of cooperation and to bolster bonds of cooperation for the best interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.

Sheikh Mohammed added the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is looking forward for broader cooperation with Malaysia, particularly in areas of joint ventures executed by the private sector and businessmen in both countries.

For his part, the King of Malaysia expressed his country's desire to further boost ties with the UAE given its outstanding position and its rapid progress.

The meeting, which was attended by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Mohammed Najib Tun Razak, discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations and reviewed topics of mutual concern.

During the royal audience, King Tuanku Mizan awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Defender of the Realm (Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara S.M.N.) with the tilte of Tun, the most esteemed and highest order in Malaysia, to Sheikh Mohammed in recognition of his relentless, great efforts in taking Malaysia-UAE relations of friendship and cooperation to new heights.

Sheikh Mohammed paid profound thanks and gratitude to the King of Malaysia for conferring the prestigious honour on him.
