Mansour bin Mohammed inaugurates Big Entertainment Show's 7th edition

DUBAI, 27th October, 2014 (WAM) --- H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Monday inaugurated the seventh edition of the Big Entertainment Show (BES) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The BES embraces three specialsed events: the Dubai International Brand and Licensing Fair, Dubai World Game Expo and MYCONTENT. The Big Entertainment Show (BES) has become the largest show in the MENA Region specialised in Media and TV content, character and brand licensing, game developing and publishing, in addition to all trading companies working in the export and import business.

Following the opening ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Mansour toured the exhibition where he was introduced to over 130 local and international exhibiting companies participating in the show this year. His Highness was introduced to the latest technologies and developments in the fields of online games, cartoon characters, animation, and TV and film productions.

The Big Entertainment Show witnesses a remarkable participation this year from the U.A.E., South Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Argentina, Russia, Lebanon, Morocco, Malaysia, Belgium, Egypt, Germany, India, Austria, United Kingdom, Turkey, the United States and Japan. The exhibition is also hosting six national pavilions this year from South Korea, Morocco, Japan, and Malaysia.

On the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Anas Al Madani, Vice Chairman and CEO of INDEX Holding said, "We believe that the industry of online games, media content and brand licensing is recording a massive growth and prosperity in the region. This in turn reflects the importance of the Big Entertainment Show being the largest specialised B2B show in the MENA Region. We are very delighted with the great success the Big Entertainment Show has recorded until this day, and we are expecting this year more than 4000 visitors during the two day event." Al Madani continued on saying: "The Big Entertainment Show provides a great opportunity for conference attendees to meet industry professionals and learn how they navigated the frequently shifting landscape of this cutting-edge industry.

It is a must attend event for all digital content and game industry professionals tasked with bringing product to market." MYCONTENT, part of BES, is witnessing a great participation from media content providers. This year, Animation content showcased at the event has been remarkable from South Korea and Malaysia. In the news and documentary content providers, leading broadcasters such as RT, from Russia and DW from Germany are also exhibiting at the exhibition.

On the other hand, Dubai International Brand Licensing Fair is the Middle East’s only brand licensing marketplace featuring a vast collection of properties and brands. Licensors interest in the region is on the rise due to the booming retail sector which shows in the participation of Arsenal Football Club this year. Arsenal Football Club is exhibiting at the event, as they are keen on expanding their brand presence in the MENA across all product categories.

Commenting on Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) participation in the show, Humaid Al Ali, Incident Handling & Response Analyst at aeCERT, said: This year, TRA is organising a competition for university students, for them to develop a mobile phone application in the field of cyber security. We want them to develop an easy-to-use application that would appeal most to youngsters, especially those in the age bracket 8 to 12 years old. This application is meant to educate those young internet users of cyber security. We are also promoting our cartoonish character ‘Salim’ in the field of cyber security.

Al Ali added: "This is our second participation in BES, our aim is to increase our exposure and to reach the largest number of people. We would also want to increase public awareness about cyber security and this is what we are doing in the Big Entertainment Show." On another note, the event’s agenda features a number of activities including the Middle East Game Development Summit and the Entertainment Content Summit. Over 20 of the most prominent speakers will be discussing latest industry trends and challenges and will present their latest theories and research in those fields. The summits will bring forth recommendations to tackle challenges and changes in this evolving industry.

The sessions will create an excellent platform for businessmen, investors, and leaders of this industry to interact and discuss the latest updates and productions at a time where the worldwide market for entertainment content is growing at a very fast pace, including the Middle East Market. The seminars will present new techniques and updates in the industry. Topics such as: latest trends in Smart phone, tablet and Apps session, Success in the game development, Cross channel advertising and Smart mix of contact publishing.

The Big Entertainment show will continue until the 28th of October and the event is sponsored by Playzone and the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) and is supported by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) - Modhesh World and the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers Association.
