Ruler of Sharjah tours AED227 million sewage treatment plant at Al Sajaa in Sharjah

SHARJAH, 25th October, 2015 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, visited this morning the AED227 million sewage treatment plant at Al Sajaa industrial area in the Emirate of Sharjah.
The tour comes within the framework of the keenness of the Ruler of Sharjah to inspect the services and infrastructure projects in the emirate, as well as assess the progress of work on the project that would contribute to the infrastructure and sewage systems' development to cope with the construction boom and urban development being witnessed by the Emirate of Sharjah in various fields.
Sheikh Sultan met officials and supervisors of the sewage plant who briefed him about various phases of project's execution.
When it gets completed by December, Al Sajaa sewage plant would serve the infrastructure sector and ease pressure on a main plant.
The project is part of an integrated plan for the development of infrastructure in Sharjah city. It includes the development of the main sewage treatment plant at the fifth industrial area. The treated water will be used to irrigate plants and green spaces in the city of Sharjah.
The Ruler of Sharjah urged those in charge of the plant to expand and start the second phase of the project to raise the capacity from 30, 000 cubic metres to 50, 000 cubic metres daily.
Among others present were Ali bin Shahin Al Suwaidi, Head of the Public Works Department, Riyadh bin Eilan, Director-General of the Sharjah Municipality, Eng. Hind Mohammed Hashemi, Director of the General Services at Department of Public Works and Project Manager, and a number of officials and supervisors.
