Need to confront challenges by transforming Emirati community values to institutional system: Lubna Al Qasimi

DUBAI, 13th February, 2017 (WAM) -- Transforming traditional Emirati community values to an institutional system can help confront challenges that result from international and regional change, Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance, has said.

In an interview with the Emirates News Agency, WAM, during a meeting on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai, she stated that Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, put out a clear and specific framework to revive Arabic civilisation, which he linked to the development of all civilisations, as well as to face all forms of hate and discrimination.

She said that the vision included in the discussion, during the session by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, was clear and complied with the challenges facing the region. His remarks about the dangers of incitement by the media, reflects the true face of many Arab media institutions that dedicate their platforms to promote hate, she added.

The Emirati model of tolerance and happiness has reached an advanced phase and could be applied anywhere, as long as there is a real will for change, Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi said.

"In the UAE, we realised that the time has come to transform the original morals of the Emirati people to an institutional system based on solid values and standards, so we would be able to promote and apply it both locally and internationally," she added.

The UAE’s immunisation programmes were inspired by ideas from the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and from directives by the UAE’s leadership, as well as the experience of its people and the nation’s achievements, she further added.

She highlighted her pride at the UAE’s global image, and echoed the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, about the willingness to learn from others and to help draft clear plans for eliminating obstacles to development.

She stressed the importance of correcting obstacles by using the same methods as those that pose development challenges to the Arab region, and highlighted that some media and social media outlets have caused a clear distortion of Arab morals.
