AJMAN, 16th February, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, opened Ajman’s first sports park, with the aim of improving local sports participation and provide public leisure services.
The park in Al Hameedeya, was built at a cost of AED5 million and covers an area of 40,000 square metres.
Accompanied by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Head of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, he praised the efforts of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department to enlarge its green spaces and to improve new green spaces where residents and citizens can enjoy a safe and healthy life, as well as to attract visitors and tourists from all over the world to enjoy a pure and healthy environment, free from pollution.
Ajman is on the path to becoming a tourist destination, with all the requirements for a good quality of life, and establishing successful projects that are in harmony with the vision and directives of its leadership under H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, said H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi.
While touring several parts of the new park, including playing areas for different types of sports, he stressed that the park provided a golden opportunity for talented athletes to enhance and master their skills, to compete in international competitions. The park includes facilities for basketball and football, as well as volleyball courts, a jogging track, a rubber walking track and a track for specialised sports.
The park will also be a great place for families and children, talented athletes and tourists from all over the world to enjoy its various facilities, and practice sports in an environment where all services and sporting requirements are available.
The park also includes various local projects for assisting young businessmen and investors to invest capital in tourism, and to support small and medium enterprise owners to turn the park into an exceptional tourist destination with service facilities and restaurants.
H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi attended several sporting events that were organised by the department, in co-operation with the Education Department, while students enjoyed playing table tennis, football, crossfit, gymnastics and other sports that are available in the park.
