AJMAN, 28th February, 2017 (WAM) -- Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department and Chairman of the Supreme Census Committee, has said that the Ajman census is a national project that requires moral commitment, sense of overall community responsibility, as well as co-operation with researchers on the use of modern technology in census.
He registered the required information to complete the self-census process in his department office by using the Ajman Census website, which is a modern way to conduct the census.
Sheikh Rashid stressed Ajman’s general population, housing and facilities' census is a necessary national step that fulfills the required goals by obtaining accurate information that contribute to developing the performance of Ajman’s various sectors, according to the best international practices and specifications in this field.
He added that the census would collect statistical data that relate to all Ajman citizens and residents, as well as data storage and analysis. Sheikh Rashid noted that the collected information would only be used for statistical purposes.
The Statistics and Research Department of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council is the main authority for managing, planning and implementing this process with full transparency and credibility.
Sheikh Rashid underlined that the census would achieve important goals by identifying population characteristics and creating accurate databases for buildings and facilities, which would contribute to an improved distribution of services and promote sustainable development programmes.
According to Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, participating in the census is a national duty that everyone should commit to, in order to achieve comprehensive results that will assist in drafting national strategies, which complies with Ajman’s strategic goals and the UAE 2021 vision.
He called on Ajman’s citizens and residents to contribute to this project by providing accurate and correct information to help the relevant authorities to monitor the correct data and draft suitable policies accordingly.
He described Ajman as the Emirate of happiness and prosperity, and highlighted its leadership’s desire to facilitate all procedures for its citizens. It therefore relies on the project’s website to help families to independently achieve this process, without the need for visits by researchers.
Sheikh Rashid instructed the census researchers to be ambassadors and use their experience in obtaining information professionally to achieve the community’s interests. He stated that the Supreme Census Committee had appointed qualified and well-trained personnel to efficiently obtain information from the public in record time.
