FNC delegation visits Emirati patients in London

LONDON, 5th March, 2017 (WAM) -- A Federal National Council (FNC) delegation, headed by Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, the Speaker of the FNC, today visited Emirati patients who are receiving treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the London Clinic.

Dr. Al Qubaisi highlighted the council’s desire to strengthen social partnerships and communication with citizens, both inside and outside the country, as part of social initiatives under its parliamentary strategy for 2016-2021.

"Today we visited Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, which is considered one of the leading children’s hospitals in the world. The Mother of the Nation, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has offered a generous contribution to build the world’s first centre for the research of rare children’s diseases, the Zayed Centre for Research for Children and Genetic Research and Rare Disease, where children from all over the world will benefit. It will include hundreds of researchers of different genetic and incurable diseases that, Allah Almighty willing, they can find cures for. Health will then spread to the children of the world, thanks to this generous support from the Mother of the Nation", Dr. Al Qubaisi said.

She valued the generous giving of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, which added humanitarian dimensions to the general work and care for motherhood and childhood, through initiatives of kindness, development and giving in the fields of education, health, women’s development and voluntary work. She stressed that H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak is a pioneer for suggesting initiatives, ideas and visions that turn into accomplishments and real benefits.

"This support is a representation of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s desire for partnerships with the international community to serve all of humanity, especially in improving the health of future generations of children," Dr. Al Qubaisi added.

She expressed her appreciation for the support offered by the UAE embassy in the UK for all its citizens. "The FNC desires to communicate with citizens everywhere as part of our social initiatives. The goal of social communication is to oversee the conditions and situations of citizens, which enables us, in the council, to discuss these and work on providing the best recommendations and services, highlighting that the country’s wise leadership, the wise government and the FNC are united in one goal, for the people of the UAE to be the happiest people," she added.

The delegation confirmed that communicating with citizens is part of the UAE leadership’s approach, since the reign of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. This approach is being continued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
