WASHINGTON, 15th March, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has met with Rex Tillerson, US Secretary of State.
The meeting, which was held in Washington, touched on joint cooperation relations and strategic partnerships between the UAE and the United States, and means of boosting them in various fields, including economy, trade, security, military and defence for the interest of both countries and peoples.
The two sides also exchanged views on current developments in the region and discussed a number of regional and international issues of common interest, especially developments in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Libya, as well as the importance of enhancing joint cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism in all its forms.
Sheikh Abdullah stressed that the UAE and the US are bound by strong ties and strategic partnerships, highlighting that these ties are continuously developed thanks to the support of the leadership of both countries and their keenness to push them forward for the good of the people of the two countries.
Mr. Tillerson welcomed the visit of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, commending the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
He also hailed the role played by the UAE at the regional and international levels.
The meeting was attended by Yousef Mana'a Saeed Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States of America.
