Red Crescent receives donation from American Chamber of Commerce Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 29th March, 2017 (WAM) --The Red Crescent Authority has received a monetary donation from the American Chamber of Commerce Abu Dhabi, AmCham, in support of its humanitarian programmes to benefit the children of Yemen.

This initiative from AmCham comes as part of humanitarian and social co-operation by the authority and its partners in government authorities and private sector organisations, based on the mission of AmCham and its members regarding their joint humanitarian responsibility for members of local and international societies.

This came during a reception by Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Deputy Secretary-General of Local Affairs at the Red Crescent, for Sharief Fahmy, Chairman of AmCham, with the presence of Theresa Weber, Executive Director of AmCham, and Dr. Elias Boutros Sayah, Member of AmCham, and a number of American businessmen who are members of AmCham in Abu Dhabi.

Al Mansouri praised the initiative of AmCham and its constant response to the humanitarian movements of the authority, adding that AmCham continued to offer its support for the Red Crescent’s various activities and humanitarian programmes.

Al Mansouri stressed that the authority always strives to strengthen its partnership with local, regional and international individuals and organisations to demonstrate a considerable amount of solidarity and responsiveness for victims of conflicts and disasters and to gather support for their humanitarian plight. He added that the programmes of the Red Crescent Authority and its activities have witnessed a constant expansion and further scope in areas that suffer from weakness, due to the support from supporters and donors who are behind its humanitarian achievements.

Sharief Fahmy said that the social responsibility between private sector organisations and companies comes at the top of AmCham’s priorities, which strives to strengthen its good relations with the Red Crescent, to help the children of Yemen conquer the adversity that their country is experiencing.

Dr. Sayah said that AmCham has supported the charity and humanitarian efforts of the Red Crescent for more than 16 years, through its annual charity campaigns and humanitarian projects for weak and vulnerable people who are supported by the Red Crescent, adding that the Red Crescent is always at the forefront of organisations that work in the humanitarian field.
