SHARJAH, 6th April, 2017 (WAM) -- The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, SEWA, and the Sharjah National Oil Corporation, SNOC, are considering joint action to promote innovation and sustainable development, strengthen their strategic plans to preserve the environment, enhance the emirate's economic competitiveness and focus on the implementation of relevant research studies.
As part of a clear strategy already in place, SEWA is currently implementing innovative solutions and creative ideas to overcome various challenges, enhance energy efficiency to ensure a qualitative leap in Sharjah’s economy, said Rashid Obaid Jumaa Al Leem, Chairman of SEWA, who held discussions with a delegation from SNOC, led by Chief Executive Officer Hatem Mohammed Diab Al-Musa.
The discussions are in line with the vision and guidance of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
SEWA is also implementing a strategy to reduce energy consumption by 30 percent during the next phase as it adopted and applied the United Nations standards and principles for energy management and obtained the ISO 50001, Al Leem noted.
Chief Executive Officer Hatem Mohammed Diab Al-Musa said that SNOC is developing special strategies to promote optimal use of energy and encourage innovation of sustainable measures to contribute towards transforming Sharjah into a global hub for green economy, and create new opportunities in the energy sector.
