Arab Media Forum an important platform for the region's media sector: Sultan Al Jaber

ABU DHABI, 1st May, 2017 (WAM) -- Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Director of National Media Council, NMC, has highlighted the importance of the Arab Media Forum as an interactive platform for the region's media sector enabling dialogue and exchange of information to enhance media performance.

"There is no doubt that holding the forum at this stage gains additional importance, in the light of the rapid developments witnessed by the media sector and the considerable impact of digital and social media, forcing the industry to reconsider its foundations," he said in a statement on the launch of the forum today.

Dr. Al Jaber stated that the forum brings together a range of prominent Arab media figures and experts and reflects the great interest of the UAE’s wise leadership in the media sector and its personalities. He pointed out that it also confirms the leading and efficient role of the media in strengthening the UAE’s prominent position as an international communication centre and a beacon of tolerance and coexistence.

He stressed that this year’s forum provides an opportunity to highlight the active role of the media and the responsibility of its journalists and employees to convey the news with credibility and establish civilised dialogue promoting positive values and the development of human societies, under the theme, "The Civilised Dialogue". He expressed his confidence that the forum will witness serious and useful discussions that will enhance the role of the Arab media.
