No cholera in Yemeni areas liberated from rebels, says interior minister

ADEN, 12th May, 2017 (WAM) -- Yemeni Minister of Interior and Deputy Prime Minister Major General Hussein Mohammed Arab has confirmed that areas liberated from the rebels are free from cholera, saying that only suspected cases of severe diarrhoea were reported in recent months, the state Yemeni news agency reported on Friday.

The Yemeni government is prepared to remove all obstacles blocking relief agencies operating in the country, he emphasised during a meeting with Hany El-Banna, President of the Humanitarian Forum, and visiting relief officials.

El-Banna noted that the relief delegation's visit to Yemen aims to assess humanitarian needs and discuss how to ease the suffering of Yemenis affected by the unjust war waged by the rebel Houthi militia and the now-ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh.
