DUBAI, 12th July, 2017 (WAM) -- Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness, has praised the efforts exerted by the Supreme National Committee for Drug Prevention affiliated with the National Anti-Narcotics Council, in the framework of its national and societal role and its many positive achievements in protecting individuals in society from the danger of drugs.
The minister commended the objectives of the "Siraj" programme, which is implemented by the Supreme National Committee for Prevention of Drugs, as it provides care and treatment for addicts, and raise community awareness about the seriousness of this disease. She also expressed her great interest in cooperating with the committee to achieve national and societal goals.
This came during her meeting with the Chairman of the Supreme National Committee for Drug Prevention, Colonel Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Al Dabal, and a number of senior officials and members of the committee.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Dabal briefed Minister Ohood on the Supreme National Committee fundamental working mechanisms, and the efforts exerted by the committee under the guidance of Lt. General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai and Chairman of the National Anti-Narcotics Council.
She was briefed on activating the role of prevention through lectures and courses of the Siraj programme in schools, under the supervision of a group of officers and specialists in the field, as well as competitions aimed at raising society's awareness about the danger of drug abuse, and community participation in exhibitions, conferences, and scientific studies on drug problems, and working to activate partnerships between the supreme committee with institutions and government departments.
It was agreed during the meeting to develop a joint work programme between the parties during the next phase.
The Minister of State for Happiness received an Aqdar Shield from Dr. Al Dabal on the occasion of her visit.
