ABU DHABI, 16th July, 2017 (WAM)-- Idriss Deby, President of Chad, yesterday laid a wreath at the Abu Dhabi’s Wahat Al Karama, a national landmark built to immortalise the sacrifices of the UAE’s brave heroes.
Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, welcomed the dignitary at the memorial, which is made up of 31 massive aluminum panels, leaning on one another in a show of solidarity that reflects the bond between the UAE’s people, leadership and armed forces.
This was followed by a tour around Wahat Al Karama covering the Memorial Plaza and the Pavilion of Honor, where the heroes’ names, as well as verses from the Qur’an, are etched into more than 2,800 aluminum plates.
Dr. Al Nuaimi presented the visiting president a commemorative coin, issued by the UAE Central Bank in cooperation with The Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, as a tribute to the sacrifices and courage of the country’s heroes.
President Deby concluded his visit by signing the visitors’ log and lauding the sacrifices made by the UAE’s heroes to defend their country and its sovereignty.
