ABU DHABI, 23rd August, 2017 (WAM) -- Sheikh Khalifa bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan has launched the 'Wajeb Volunteer Team' in light of World Humanitarian Day, under his patronage.
Sheikh Khalifa said that the team’s vision considers volunteering as a national mission whose goal is to encourage the youth to invest in their time through voluntary actions that better serve the UAE community, and affirming their loyalty to the nation and wise leadership.
He also praised the wise directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in launching the Year of Zayed initiative in 2018, adding that reviving this initiative reflects the UAE community's values and loyalty.
Sheikh Khalifa stressed that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan will always remain the symbol of local and international humanitarian work, as the late ruler established the humanitarian aspect of the UAE’s foreign policy, and strengthened its international image as a leader in philanthropic giving.
He also praised the launch of the UAE Volunteer Platform, where he registered himself and the Wajeb Volunteer Team, emphasising the unique opportunity for local volunteers to support volunteer work and organisations under the UAE framework.
