DUBAI, 9th November, 2017 (WAM) -- Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, received a certificate as Dubai Police set a Guinness World Record by dragging an Emirates airplane, Airbus A380, weighing 302.68 tonnes for 100 metres, as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
Al Marri received the certificate from Huda Al Kassab, Records Director at Guinness World Records.
He hailed the support of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, highlighting that 56 officers from the Dubai Police General Command managed to drag the 302.68-tonne airplane to break the previous record set by 100 people in Hong Kong who dragged a 218.56-tonne airplane.
He stressed that the Dubai Fitness Challenge has contributed to strengthening the culture of sports and raising the number of people practising sports in the UAE. He further said that being featured in Guinness Records is considered a new achievement for Dubai Police on the international level.
The event was attended by several officers.
