ABU DHABI, 7th December, 2017 (WAM) -- Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah, has met with Dr. Abdullah Al Mandous, President of the National Centre of Meteorology, NCM, and a number of heads of administrations and departments, during his visit to the NCM.
During the meeting, they discussed ways of mutual co-operation between the department and the NCM, according to the former’s work requirements, to implement the strategic vision of the UAE Government to unify the sources of weather forecasts in the UAE.
Al Qassimi viewed a detailed presentation about the NCM’s services and its processes and infrastructure.
Dr. Al Mandous expressed the centre's willingness to fulfil the needs of all institutions under the department, especially Sharjah International Airport.
The centre aims to unify the country’s sources of weather forecasts, as per the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and to establish agreements with all the country's airports within this framework, he added while noting that the centre already provides aviation-related services to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai airports.
Al Qassimi toured the centre and was briefed by weather forecast officers about their processes and how to issue weather reports and warnings.
