'Mother of the Nation' a supporter of the family: Director-General of Dubai Women’s Association

DUBAI, 20th December, 2017 (WAM) -- The Dubai Women’s Association has congratulated H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the "Mother of the Nation," for receiving the title, "Supporter of the Family," from the World Family Organisation, WFO.

Dr. Fatima Al Falasi, Director-General of the Dubai Women's Association, conveyed her congratulations and blessings to Sheikha Fatima for receiving the title with merit and worthiness.

She added that Sheikha Fatima was, and still is, a strong and determined supporter of causes for Emirati and Arab families, and is truly the supporter of the family and a leading and established icon, who also supports and sponsors the vital role of women in preventing conflicts and settling disputes, and is a role model of female leadership in strengthening the stature of women.

She also praised the international peace capital, Abu Dhabi, for hosting the "Women, Security and Peace Summit: The Gender Dimensions of International Peace and Security," which was held under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima and was organised by TRENDS Research and Advisory, in co-operation with Women in International Security and the United Nations, UN.

Al Falasi noted that the country has reached a milestone as women have attained the highest positions and led through their creativity while the wisdom and vision of the wise leadership, which is loyal to the UAE, has helped to develop the community and raise the stature of the family and women. She also highlighted the association’s support for the "TRENDS Initiative for Women in Security and Peace," which was launched in co-operation with Women in International Security on the sidelines of the summit, with the aim of increasing awareness about the situation of women in areas afflicted by wars, crises and armed conflicts, as well as helping to protect the community and the youth from destructive and extremist ideologies and intellectual terrorism, and raising the awareness of women and training them for humanitarian work.

She also expressed her faith that Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the summit will highlight the UAE’s presence on the international peace arena, as well as its history, which is based on the established principles of gender balance.

Al Falasi said that she is looking forward to the UAE’s speech on behalf of Sheikha Fatima at the opening of the summit’s document, which will explain its methodology and focal point, especially as Sheikha Fatima’s speech will include a national project and an honour code to empower women and strengthen their role and message.
