ABU DHABI, 13th March, 2018 (WAM) -- Wael Al Sayed Mohammed Gad, Ambassador of Egypt to the UAE, highlighted the readiness of the Egyptian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and General Consulate in Dubai to receive Egyptians residing and visiting the country to vote in Egypt’s 2018 presidential elections.
The elections will begin on Friday, 16th March, 2018, and will run until Sunday, 18th March, 2018, from 9:00 to 21:00 UAE time.
In special statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, Gad explained that the process will require voters to personally report to a committee at the embassy or consulate, after presenting their national ID cards or original passports while noting that every Egyptian citizen in the UAE, whether a resident or visitor, can vote, provided their national ID card or original passport is up to date.
He called on all Egyptians in the UAE to practice their electoral rights and participate in the elections, to support and build the future of Egypt while stressing that voting is a national mission and duty.
Gad also pointed out that the embassy will provide tablet devices and electronic readers of passports and national ID cards, as well as technical support from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Gad praised the co-operation of UAE authorities for facilitating the voting process in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
