NBF celebrates success of 2nd NBF Fujairah Run with over 1,800 runners

FUJAIRAH, 28th November, 2018 (WAM) -- National Bank of Fujairah PJSC (NBF) saw over 1,800 participants take part in its second annual run in the Emirate of Fujairah on Friday, 23rd November. The event builds on the success of the inaugural event last year and saw a 73% increase in participation this year with runners competing in the 3km, 5km, 10km and 11km races.

The second edition of the run welcomed old and new faces including some of the UAE’s best runners. One of the highlights of this year’s race was the new 11km mountain trail route, which took place against Fujairah’s stunning mountain backdrop. The run also included a number of People of Determinations under four different groups.

Commenting on the race, Vince Cook, CEO of NBF, said, "We are delighted with the continued success of the NBF Fujairah Run. It was great that we were able to accommodate runners of all capabilities and I am very proud that the race continues to grow in popularity year on year. By adding the 11km trail run this year, we’ve been able to attract the most adventurous runners, as this race is a first not just for Fujairah but for the whole of the UAE, as the first competitive run route to take place directly through a mountain range. However, most rewarding of all was being able to see first-hand the inclusive spirit throughout, the tremendous achievements of those taking part and the chance to enjoy the exceptional sights of Fujairah in such great company. Congratulations to all the winners and participants that took part and completed the course."

The NBF Fujairah Run 2018 secured sponsorship from many partners, some for the second year running, significantly strengthening the offering and profile of this year’s run. They included: Malabar Gold & Diamonds, UAE Exchange, United Steel Industries, Etisalat Information Services, Port of Fujairah, Fujairah Sports Club, Fujairah National Group, Fujairah National Resources Corporation, Nikai, Fujairah Free Zone and Fujairah Adventures.
