UAE efforts praised by 'Interfaith Alliance' exhibition participants

GENEVA, 12th March, 2019 (WAM) -- Participants in the 'Interfaith Alliance Mobile Exhibition' praised the UAE's support for humanitarian values and child protection.

Following similar efforts held in Abu Dhabi in November 2018, the UAE has provided technical and logistic support to continue the Interfaith Alliance Mobile Exhibition, being held on the margins of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

The exhibition provides a simple and interactive platform for communication between participants from different age groups and scientific and religious backgrounds, with the objective of raising awareness about sexual assault and crimes against children.

Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, UAE Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, also visited the exhibition and expressed his appreciation for such events, which the UAE supports and presents to the world.

Al Zaabi added that the exhibition aims to highlight the influence of religious leaders in their communities, and their key role in reinforcing child protection in the digital world, especially as they are exposed to sexual exploitation on the internet. He also noted that the exhibition clearly reflects the UAE’s keenness to reinforce the global efforts and the role of religious leaders in the area of child protection.

Geneva is the third venue of the exhibition, which was previously held in Davos in January. Its next venues will be Denmark, Tokyo, Nairobi and the United States.

The exhibition’s visitors included Francesco Pisano, Director-General of the United Nations Library at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO, as well as Marta Santos Pace, UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Children, who emphasised the importance of the exhibition's hosting in Geneva, and ensuring key actors support the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, both nationally and internationally.
