Mohamed bin Zayed arrives in Saudi Arabia for emergency Gulf, Arab summits

JEDDAH, 30th May, 2019 (WAM) -- His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, arrived in Jeddah, leading the UAE delegation to the two emergency summits of GCC and Arab leaders, due in Makkah today.

"Holding the three Gulf, Arab and Islamic summits in Makkah in such a critical period, during which the region is witnessing daunting challenges, re-affirms the leading role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a country that represents a strategic depth for the countries of both the region and Islamic world and plays a significant role in establishing peace and security, preserving the interests of the region's peoples and closing Arab and Islamic ranks," said His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed upon arrival in the Saudi city.

He hailed the efforts made by Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and its good offices and valuable initiatives to catalyse joint Arab and global action to establish security and stability regionally and internationally.

Sheikh Mohamed expressed hope that the sincere efforts made by the Kingdom would ensure success for the three summits and lead to unified visions and stances toward the challenges and menacing threats besetting the region that risk undermining Arab national security.

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed was welcomed at King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah by Prince Khalid Al Faisal, the Governor of Makkah Province; Dr Abdulatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary-General of GCC; Dr Ahmed Aboulgheit, Secretary General of Arab League; and Dr Yousef Al-Othaimeen, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, as well as Saudi Ambassador to UAE, Turki Al Dakheel.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince is accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme National Security Council; as well as Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia; and Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Court of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince.
