This document covers the terms and conditions governing the use of the websites of National Media Council and the Emirates News Agency (WAM), hereinafter referred to as: "The website".

These terms and conditions are applicable in addition to any relevant UAE laws.

Intellectual Property Rights

The rights of printing, publication and trademarks, the authorial rights, and other intellectual property rights for the material available on the website (which include, without limitation, all pictures, audio-material, illustrative drawings, reports, files, programmes, communiques, applications, information, text, videos, logos, layout, art work, animated pictures and other materials) are vested with the National Media Council.

Use of the information published on the website is limited to your personal use, research, studies, educational purposes and for requesting services.

Information published on the website should not be used for commercial purposes, for example (but not limited to): the sale, distribution and republication of material.


Limits of Guarantees and Responsibilities

The National Media Council retains the right to amend, replace or remove information without prior notice.

The National Media Council disclaims any liability for guarantees and conditions related to published material.

The National Media Council is not liable for any harm or damage whatsoever or howsoever caused emanating from the use of the website or from the information published therein, directly or indirectly.

The National Media Council does not assume any liability for loss of data or damage to computer systems as a result of the use of the website or any published material contained therein. It also disclaims any liability for the National Media Council and for the service provider for any malware.

Users of the website bear responsibility for any harm caused emanating from their use of the website. You will be liable for compensation to the National Media Council in the event of any harm or claim arising out of your use of the website or any information contained therein.

This document is deemed an agreement between users and the National Media Council regarding use of the website. Any prior agreement regarding the use of the website or information therein is hereby annulled.


Website Sign in

Some parts of the website, such as online services, are available only to registered users.

Inappropriate usernames are not allowed.

When a user signs in, he agrees to provide correct, up to date and full information.

The user bears responsibility for keeping the confidentiality of any username and password while completing the sign in process. Similarly, he or she is accountable for all activities carried out under his or her username.

Any attempt to access the data of another user without permission is prohibited.

Use of another's username to access the website is not allowed.

In case a user's password becomes known to any other user not authorised, it should be immediately brought to the attention of the National media Council so that measures can be taken to block that account.

The National Media Council is entitled to block access to, or use of, the website without prior notice if these terms and conditions are violated. The National Media Council will resort to all means at its disposal to block access as it deems fit.



The National Media Council is permitted to list on its websites links from other websites. The National Media Council does not bear any responsibility for the contents of those websites or for the accuracy of any information or services the link provides.

If linking to an external website via the WAM website, use is subject to the terms and conditions laid down by the owner or operator of the external website.

Publication of materials provided in websites linked to the National Media Council's website does not reflect the National Media Council's endorsement of any such materials or services linked.


Online copies of documents

Online copying of the National Media Council's documents as published on its website is allowed only for personal use, research and studies as well as for information gathering or educational purposes.

The final version of any document of the National Media Council is the original version published by the council and signed by the authorised person. The original version published and signed by the National Media Council will be the approved version. In the event of a dispute over two versions, the version kept by the National Media Council will have evidentiary value and the stamp of official approval.


Arabic, English and other language versions

Information on the website will be published in Arabic and English, or other languages as decided. In the event of a dispute over the Arabic and English versions, it will be resolved in favour of the original version (see above).


Applicable Laws

This document is protected and interpreted as per the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any dispute arising out of this document will be settled by UAE judiciary.



The National Media Council is not liable for any incidental, indirect, private, punitive, typical or derivative damages happening due to your use or your inability to use this website, including, without limitation, loss of expected revenue or profits, loss of reputation, loss of business, loss of data, or computer malfunction, or any other damages.

In case of violation of these terms and conditions, the National Media Council will initiate all legal measures to bring violators to civil and criminal culpability. Investigations will be carried out  in cases that involve such violations and offender/s will face judicial prosecution. 


Notice: The National Media Council is entitled to amend the clauses of this document without prior notice as it deems fit.
