Abdullah bin Zayed honours strategic partners of MoFAIC

ABU DHABI, 12th April, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Tuesday honoured several strategic partners of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, MoFAIC, whose contributions strengthened the work of the ministry and enhanced the UAE’s overall diplomatic activities.

The honouring ceremony took place on the sidelines of 11th Forum of Ambassadors and Heads of Missions Abroad, held at the ministry in Abu Dhabi, which will conclude on Thursday.

The list of honoured partners included Mubarak Rashid Al Mansouri, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE; Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Executive Chairman of Sharjah Department of Government Relations; Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Khalid Humaid Al Ali, General Civil Aviation Authority; Ahmed Al Neyadi, Mubadala Company; Omar Al Muhairi, DP World; Mohammed Al Falasi, CEO of the Janan Agricultural Investment Company; Saeed Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Fahim Group; Shamis Al Dhaheri, Group Managing Director, Ali & Sons; Tariq Al Wahedi is Acting CEO of Agthia Group; Masaood Ahmed Al Masaood, Chairman of Al Masaood Group; Mohammad Eisa Sultan Al Suwaidi, Majid Al Futtaim Group, and Saud Al Nuaimi, CEO of Julphar.

The keynote speakers who participated in the forum’s third day include Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future; Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy; Shamma bint Sohail Faris AlMazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs; Dr. Ghassan Salame, Former Minister of Culture of Lebanon, Dean of the Paris Institute of International Affairs and Professor of International Relations at the Institute of Political Science in Paris and Columbia University in the United States, US; Yousef Al Otaiba, United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the United States, and Abdullah Lootah, the Director-General of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority.

On the sidelines of the forum, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation organised its second annual open meeting with the strategic partners of the ministry, several UAE businessmen, UAE ambassadors, heads of UAE missions abroad, and several foreign ambassadors and members of the foreign diplomatic corps in the UAE.

The meeting presented an opportunity for dialogue and the exchange of views related to discussing the ways of promoting political, diplomatic relations and enhancing investment and economic co-operation opportunities between the UAE and other countries.

It was part of the relentless efforts exerted by the economic sector at the ministry to enhance partnership with the national business sector to achieve the desired integration between the foreign policy and national economy, which would serve the country's strategic objectives.

The forum also witnessed honouring of winners of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Award and the working team that contributed to the exemption of the UAE citizens from the pre-entry visa to the Schengen countries.

Meanwhile, Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs also honoured the team for its huge contributions to signing the exemption agreement with the EU countries in 2015, which resulted in exempting Emiratis from pre-visa entry requirement to enter 28 countries of the European Union.
