UAE and Ireland to establish parliamentary friendship committee

DUBLIN. 1st March 2017 (WAM) - A visiting delegation from the Federal National Council (FNC), headed by its Speaker Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, held a round of talks here today with Sean O Fearghail, Chairman of the Dail Eireann (Irish Parliament).

The two sides agreed to form a parliamentary friendship committee, to work on furthering ties between the UAE and the Republic of Ireland, especially in political, parliamentary, economic, cultural, educational and investment fields.

Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi and O Fearghail emphasised the importance of deepening relations between the two countries and exchanging expertise in the areas of economy, agriculture, tourism, transport, infrastructure and environment.

Also discussed were ways to enhance parliamentary relations and means to coordinate positions in international parliamentary events.

They also reviewed the outcome of the visit made to Ireland last month by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
