AL MOKHA, YEMEN, 10th June, 2017 (WAM)--As part of the UAE's continued support to Yemen, Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) inaugurated on Saturday Al Mokha Steam Power Station.
The move follows the directives of the UAE leadership to assist the Yemeni people and alleviate their suffering.
Director of the power station of the coastal city, Ali Ahmed al-Ra'eini, said during the opening ceremony that the station had suffered from the neglect under the control of the Houthi, who had looted the equipment, in addition to damage inflicted on it during the battle to liberate the city.
But he noted the ERC saved the situation after the liberation of the West Coast areas, as it intervened immediately to rehabilitate the station and the internal power network of the city within a record time. He said station is ready to operate with a capacity of 145 Megawatt.
The people of the coastal city of Al-Mokha expressed their satisfaction at this achievement. They thanked the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for its efforts to normalise life and alleviate the suffering of the inhabitants of Al-Mokha city in particular and the Yemeni people in general.
The ERC pledged to extend the power network to the areas that would be liberated in Taiz Governorate.
