UAE participates in WMD-Free zone in the Middle East conference
2012-05-28 20:18:55
WAM CAIRO: Political researchers and global risk management experts from the UAE's think tanks are taking part a conference on a WMD-Free zone in the Middle East, opened today in Cairo by Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Al-Arabi.

The conference which is titled "Towards a Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and all other WMD in the Middle East" is organized by the Arab League in collaboration with the Egyptian Council on Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs.

In opening remarks, the secretary general of the Pan-Arab organization said "Israel's refusal to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, or NPT, and to sign on any related treaty dealt a strong blow to regional security. Playing a double standard policy and an attitude of selectivity in the implementation of NPT in the Middle East violates its very essential aim which is global and comprehensive implementation."
