Sewa payment with credit cards

ABU DHABI, JUNE 28, 2000 (WAM)--The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) announced yesterday the launch of a new scheme for payment of electricity, water and natural gas bills by credit card, through Citibank. Hamed Taher, Deputy Head of the General Directorate of Consumer Affairs and Computer at Sewa, said that the Citibank credit card holders can pay their monthly bills through phone around the clock by simply calling the toll free number 8004000. +This is the first service of its kind introduced in Sharjah. We adopted this scheme as part of our strategy to offer distinguished and qualitative services to our customers,+ Taher said, according to a report in the Dubai based daily +Khaleej Times.+ He added that the new service will cater to the needs of consumers who total 143,000 and will save them lots of trouble in paying the bills in Sewa's offices.
