Nine West raises AED 200,000 to support Pink Caravan

SHARJAH, 6th September (WAM) - Pink Caravan, a pan-UAE breast cancer awareness initiative from Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP), has announced that it has successfully raised AED 200,000 in partnership with fashion brand Nine West.

Collected through the sale of pink pins that were made exclusively available by FoCP at Nine West stores across the UAE, the money raised will go towards supporting breast cancer patients and increasing awareness on the cause in the community.

A leading designer, developer and marketer of women's fashion footwear and accessories under the Apparel Group, Nine West teamed up with Pink Caravan in the initiative to generate funds and enhance the discussion around breast cancer. The partnership between the two entities will continue throughout 2016, with a total amount of AED 300,000 targeted to be raised before the end of the year.

Dr. Sawsan Al Madhi, Director General of Friends of Cancer Patients and Head of the Medical and Awareness Committee of Pink Caravan, praised the efforts of Nine West in its supportive endeavours.

"It is the strong collaboration and support from organisations in both the private and public sectors that are underpinning Pink Caravan’s efforts to reach out to people and educate them about breast cancer. In addition to raising funds, the diverse customer base of Nine West helps to convey Pink Caravan’s important message to a wider audience," said Dr. Al Madhi.

Commenting on the initiative, a spokesperson for Nine West said; "Nine West is committed to raising funds for breast cancer awareness and prevention. We hope our collaboration with Pink Caravan will encourage everyone to join this initiative and we thank all our customers who have supported us to work towards this extremely worthy cause."

"We are delighted to have such an enthusiastic team who is putting in an incredible degree of effort for this cause. We request that everyone help us raise funds for breast cancer patients and join us in this noble initiative. We are excited to be continuing our partnership with Pink Caravan and to be an active supporter of their vital work," the spokesperson added.
