DUBAI, 7th August, 2018 (WAM) -- A Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, has been signed between Union Coop and Dubai Judicial Institute, wherein the former will sponsor the 7th Dubai Judicial Institute Football Tournament for the month of January 2019.

The MoU was signed by Justice Dr. Jamal Al Sumaiti, Director-General of the Dubai Judicial Institute, and Ahmed Bin Kenaid, Director of the Human Resources and Emiratisation Department, on behalf of the CEO of Union Coop, in the presence of senior officials and staff members from both sides.

Expressing his views on this cooperation, Dr. Al Sumaiti said, "We would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Union Coop for supporting this tournament, which solidifies their commitment to supporting events that concern various segments of the society. This mutual understanding between the two entities will not only help in community development and nurture young athletes but inspire them to adopt useful hobbies to become successful in life and ultimately contribute to the development of our great nation."

Speaking on the occasion, Bin Kenaid said, "Supporting such activities of government institutions helps in establishing a harmonious relationship between government and private sector enterprises, which is a notion promoted highly by our wise leaders President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

"Moreover, Union Coop is keen to support quality initiatives that motivate staff and strengthen their spirit and determination to succeed. Initiatives like these help in creating a healthy and positive working environment and consolidate the thought of practising sports in all forms."

The tournament, which will be held next year, will include several teams from government departments and a team from Union Coop as well, so as to promote a spirit of healthy competition among organisations. This tournament will motivate and inspire young people to exercise regularly and promote the great leaders’ vision to include sports in their day-to-day life.

It is worth noting that the previous tournament, named "Zayed Championship," attracted 24 teams and successfully achieved the desired goals. The institute presented several awards to the winners and the participating teams and even organised additional activities for the visitors.

Union Coop has signed multiple MoUs with several government departments, institutions and charities, in line with their Community Social Responsibilities objectives.
