UAE participates in joint ministerial meeting between Gulf Cooperation Council and United Kingdom

NEW YORK, 21st September, 2022 (WAM) -- Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, attended the joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the United Kingdom, which was held on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In his intervention, Al Marar explained, "The UAE is committed to continuing to work with the UK to advance our countries’ historic bilateral relations and strengthen strategic cooperation in the fields of climate change mitigation, sustainability, the economy, and development, including through the ₤10 billion Partnership for the Future agreed upon last year."

He added: "We value our cooperation and close coordination on a wide range of issues of common interest, particularly in the Security Council, including substantive issues related to Arab files. We appreciate the pivotal role of the United Kingdom and its commitment to regional and international security, stability, and peace as a penholder on numerous Arab issues on the Council."

The minister also noted that the UAE and GCC countries look forward to continued collaboration with the United Kingdom to serve mutual interests and bolster security, stability, and peace in the region and around the world.
